To observe for paper presenters
In most seminars rooms there will be a laptop (PC) and facilities for Power Point presentations. IT IS ENOUGH TO BRING A USB MEMORY STICK. If you bring your own Mac laptop to the Congress, please observe that you have to bring a VGA adapter as well – to be able to connect your laptop to the projectors in the seminar rooms.

Information about Stockholm

Stockholm has about 2 million inhabitants, if we consider the whole metropolitan area. The city therefore needs a good transportation system to carry all this people up and down. In fact, it has a rather, let’s say, efficient commuting system.
The city has 3 underground lines that basically cover the entire centre and stretches towards the suburban areas. The underground system, in Swedish ‘tunnelbana’ (or T-bana), is fast, punctual and practical. Wherever you are within the city perimeter it is most likely that there will be a station nearby.
Before taking off for a day-trip it is useful to visit www.sl.se, click on journey planner and let the Stockholm Transport’s website do the hard work for you. It is really useful if you do not know which bus or train to get in order to visit a tourist site or to get access to Stockholm University campus. You can choose the departure/arrival time, and the website will tell you exactly when you should leave your hotel, what time is your connection train (or bus) and how to get to your destination.
If you know other major European capitals you will find transportation in Stockholm rather cheap. There are, of course, different prices for different services. The most practical, if you intend to stay for the whole congress’ week, is the weekly travel card. For SEK260 you can take any bus and train within the Stockholm metropolitan area for no extra cost. If you want to stay a longer period, there is a month ticket available for SEK620. There is also a three day pass for SEK200. You can also buy a prepay slip, with 16 units, for SEK180. Every unit is valid for one hour after you have it stamped by the SL’s agent, inside the stations. And, of course, there is day and single cards available. You can buy any of these tickets on most newsagents (“Pressbyrån” in swedish), thus do not try to buy them in the stations.
Stockholm University campus is located on the red line, at the stop “Universitetet”. All three lines cross each other on the central station, or T-centralen. From T-centralen to Stockholm University the journey takes no more than 15 minutes.
But, if there is not a T-bana station close to you, do not worry. There is also an efficient bus network that can be a good option to move above ground during the pleasant Swedish summer days. Traveling by bus, the passenger can also go to Stockholm University as well as admire the surprisingly exciting Stockholm’s architecture, visit the old city (Gamla Stan, in Swedish), see the many bars and cafes with tables on the side walk, and typical swedes enjoying the heat and sunlight. There are several busses that can take you to the campus. If you prefer traveling by bus, check www.sl.se or www.su.se websites to find out what is the most convenient line to you. Be aware that no ticket can be acquired onboard. The tickets must be bought beforehand either in newsagents or on the ticket machines, normally close to bus stops. All T-bana tickets can be used on busses. In fact, it does not really matter if you are commuting under or aboveground. You will certainly appreciate your journey.
You may order a 7-day (25 EUR) or 3-day (22 EUR) transportation card in the on-line registration form. It will be delivered to you at the congress registration desk.
